If you ever think about birding in a really think forest, then visiting Salonga National Park would be the perfect destination to visit but unfortunately current the park is less visited because of the infrastructure and access, and more recently civil war in the country. The park can only be accessed by air or the park remains relatively accessible along with a network of rivers, navigable by dugout canoe.
The park has a wide range of birds and it is believed that it has over 101 different species of birds and proud home to the rare and endangered species of bonobos also known as the pygmy chimpanzees.
Among the different birds you will find in the park include; black stork and yellow-billed stork, cattle egret, Congo peafowl, among others.
